Carin a. hagberg, MD, FASA

Dr. Carin Ann Hagberg is Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she oversees faculty academic life and student education. She is a Professor with Tenure at MD Anderson and an Adjunct Professor at UTHealth McGovern Medical School. A leading expert in Neuroanesthesia and difficult airway management, Dr. Hagberg has contributed extensively to clinical practice, education, and airway management guidelines. She has served as Past President and Executive Director of the Society for Airway Management and chaired the 2022 update of the American Society of Anesthesiology's Difficult Airway Guidelines. She has received numerous honors, including the 2019 Top 25 Women Leaders in Healthcare and the UT System Regent’s Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Hagberg has authored over 125 peer-reviewed articles and continues to advance airway management and medical education.

Dr. Irene Osborn is Professor of Anesthesiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. Over the past 30 years she has specialized in neuroanesthesia with great interest in difficult airway management, neurophysiologic monitoring and anesthetic procedures in remote locations. She has worked in several New York academic programs and participated in airway workshops throughout the world. She has recently transitioned to become the director of Non-OR Anesthesia (NORA) at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. She loves exploring the latest techniques that ensure patient safety and enhance medical care.

Dr. Elizabeth Cordes Behringer is a Cardiac Surgical Intensivist at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, a flagship teaching hospital for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. She completed her Residency in Anesthesia and Fellowships in Thoracic Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital – Harvard Medical School. Over her extensive career, she has held academic positions at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California, Irvine, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she directed the Fellowship in Critical Care.

Dr. Behringer is widely recognized for her work in airway management, serving as Co-Moderator of the ASA Difficult Airway Workshop for over 20 years and earning the Distinguished Service Award from the Society for Airway Management in 2013. She is currently the Executive Director of the World Association of Airway Management, preparing for the 3rd World Airway Management Meeting in Florence, Italy.
